Delete Your NepaliPay Account
Last updated April 25, 2026. You can permanently delete your account and most of your associated data at any time. This page explains how, and what happens next.
In-app deletion (recommended)
- Open the NepaliPay app and sign in.
- Open the Me tab (your profile, centre tab) and scroll to the bottom.
- Tap Delete Account (red, beside Sign Out).
- Confirm the warning, then type DELETE to confirm again. Deletion begins immediately.
Withdraw any remaining USD or USDC balance before you delete — once your account is gone we cannot return it to you.
Can’t access the app?
Email support@nepalipay.com from the address tied to your account. Include the words “delete my account” in the subject line. We will verify your identity and complete the deletion within 30 days.
What we delete
- Profile information (name, username, avatar, bio)
- Posts, comments, reactions, and stories
- Direct messages, group chats, and room messages you sent
- Friend connections and follows
- Push notification tokens and device fingerprints
- Authentication credentials (email/password, OAuth links, transaction PIN, biometric data)
- Profile photos and any media you uploaded to NepaliPay storage
What we retain (and why)
To meet legal and financial-compliance requirements, certain records are retained even after your account is deleted:
- Transaction records (deposits, withdrawals, transfers, gift purchases, game stakes and payouts) — retained for 7 years as required by AML / financial-services regulations.
- KYC / identity-verification documents if you submitted them — retained for 7 years to satisfy Know-Your-Customer rules.
- Sanctions-screening logs for stablecoin withdrawals — retained for 5 years.
- Audit / security logs (login attempts, failed transactions) — retained for 2 years.
- Support correspondence you sent to us — retained for 3 years.
Retained records are anonymised where possible and are stored in restricted-access systems separate from the active product database. They are never used for marketing or shared with third parties beyond what regulators require.
Delete specific data without deleting your account
You don’t have to delete your whole account just to remove individual items. From inside the app you can:
- Delete any post, comment, story, or message you sent
- Clear an entire conversation history (Conversation → menu → Clear chat)
- Remove your profile photo, banner, or bio
- Disconnect a linked OAuth provider (Me → Settings → Linked accounts)
- Export everything we have on file (Me → Settings → Privacy → Export my data) before deleting selected items
For a bulk deletion request not covered above, email support@nepalipay.com and tell us what you’d like removed.
Timeline
- In-app deletion: account is hidden immediately and purged within 30 days.
- Email-requested deletion: completed within 30 days of identity verification.
- Backups: residual copies are removed within 90 days as backup rotations expire.
